Climate Chimera
Far beyond the edge of the world, there lived a chimera Born uniquely capable in our climate change era A monster like a mosaic, a carbon variable specimen With leathery wings, skin radiating heat, and extending tentacles Whose appearance grew more with each extreme ephemera Far beyond the edge of the world there lives a climate chimera With glacial burning eyes, spikes rising like the sea The chimera hunts like a curse haunting you and me Talons devastating as drought, teeth like wildfire Multiplying like a tropical-storm-to-hurricane-amplifier Our human-influenced monster grows by every fossil fuel emission Feeding-on by heating and hurting the poorest through an extractive vision But closer than you’d think, there’s a differently-made behemoth With solar scales, wind blade wings, breath like a green earth A myth like a mosaic, a decarbonized thriving creature Bright-eyed, animal, human, plantlike, centering equitable and sustainable features By putting our heads and wings together we can remix a new era Not far beyond the edge of our imagination, there's a climate chimera.
