nope.
not as
a symbol
but CODE RED FOR HUMANITY
as
It is unequivocal that human influence has warmed the atmosphere, ocean and land. Widespread and rapid changes in the atmosphere, ocean, cryosphere and biosphere have occurred.
as
Many changes in the climate system become larger in direct relation to increasing global warming. They include increases in the frequency and intensity of hot extremes, marine heatwaves, and heavy precipitation, agricultural and ecological droughts in some regions, and proportion of intense tropical cyclones, as well as reductions in Arctic sea ice, snow cover and permafrost.
as
as a rose
in a glass case
cut from the world
petals fall to the base
as we shouldn’t need to ourselves be affected
by curling black smoke into chunky block letters in the sky
from wildfire harm afar, here clouding lungs and eyes
to read it spelling “WE ARE ALL CONNECTED”
as obvious as it feels without all the best science compiled
(EVERYTHING IS INTERCONNECTED)
it’s the secret we’re told to forget every second of our lives
when forgotten en masse, read as: EVERYTHING IS INFECTED
as a curse
in a flower
trapped
by power
as
a rose
on a vanity in the room
as A CODE RED FOR HUMANITY would bloom
If you’ve been following
the IPCC ongoing
then you already BEEN knowing
already been sorrowing
Unequivocal, Direct Changes, Cumulative Emissions —
None of this is new, is the thing. The latest report is actually just a review, of all the things. All the latest science, signs, and signals, and what they say. For how long how much heat is expected to stay. If humans keep pouring CO2 and other pollutants skyward, this says to expect more rising seas and fires. Which is weird, as none of this is new to know, yet what would we say without it? You know, instead of just talking, we should probably do something about it.
In this lifetime, preferably. In my lifetime, selfishly. I’ve only lived for five of these IPCC reports, with the first out in 1990. Each reviewing increasing emissions, each period’s report terrifying with detailed additions. Because as the science gets better, the impacts have gotten worse. Gifting this rose of a world that comes with a curse. A curse broken by true love’s kiss (as immediately reducing emissions trying to save every living bit).
Which doesn’t even mention how much more beautiful the world will be. When we meet the moment in love to transform our climate reality.
with the first IPCC report in 1990— this is a tale as old as my time, yes
where the physics are as old as rhyme, but not this whole thorny mess
now getting both the beauty and the beast of insanity, let’s go!
and heed A CODE RED FOR HUMANITY
(as a rose).
