December Skies Over Washington, DC
Monday, December 20th, 2021
Monday: skies at dawn cool a light breeze catching cold sunlight in a calm above DC, like an LED idea bulb too-slowly crystalizing in air above the area. As if inspired by recent extremes, inspired by what we’re all thinking, inspired by *gestures at everything*, the idea hovers and grows. But it’s always chilled there, except now it seems folks feel the weight in weather together in whether we all face it. To spread green sustaining through more than one season like fir forests through leaves. Not top-down, but locally-upwards. From roots underground nourishing the need. For a Green New Deal— everywhere and evergreen.

Tuesday: morning skies gasp at what they’re given but quickly get to-it, gathering ribbon, thread, and felt cloud cover to craft what they’ll be giving. Temperatures start in the chilling 30s°F, lacing through holes in each cloudy hour up towards 40s°F from around midday, to threading down the opposite direction by 5 PM evening. A gentle wind binds ‘round the district as an airy city-drifting sealant. As Tuesday’s weather settles more-winterlike in an unsettled pandemic, here are two Healthy Home resources:

Wednesday: early skies unwrap from a couple of clouds to clear through the day towards more abundant sun. While winds bluster 10-25mph with gusts up to 30mph possible, definitely bundle up when venturing beyond your whistling window to fortify against any biting chilly breezes. Temperatures at dawn start freezing but lift up from there into the 40s°F for most of daylight til dusk.
Having made it beyond the Winter Solstice into longer and lighter days, you deserve a gift. Here’s a playlist mix made for you with winterlike weather-referencing songs which veer away from consumer/holiday themes to keep it on calming balming vibes: “Said of Winter”
