Mothers’ Day Clean Energy Morning, Twenty Thirty Something

I’m preparing pancake batter on a bit of battery power
when dawnglow grows to a sunrise conducting solar

electrons dancing across the farm in bright meadows
out-back. Just in time to charge-on the griddle,

get ready my sister, and then message my brother,
aligning the family grid to clean power-up for Mothers

Day ceremonies celebrating starting with breakfast in bed,
solar-imaging-in our brother so all-together we wake them,

cheesing a thousand kiloWatt hour clean electric smiles,
while thousands of miles away a mother-zephyr, waiting,

wiggles through wind farms, letting go offspring-breezes
from gentle winds miles away, swirling into the open window

with sunlight, entangling in rays, currents flow through
hair, laughter scatters in the air, the warmth’s gathering,

together we're giving gifts to honor, offerings for Mothers.
My brother, of course, presenting virtual subscriptions: 

one to a book club, one to a roller derby league, and
a knitting subscription for grandma. My sister gives

a bouquet of promises, hand-folded, in mini-vases, and
for grandma, a pastel handknit sewn shawl. All go Awwww.

I take my hands held together from behind my back and hold
out my arms with nothing but a nerdy grin, and so I begin

to sing a song, repackaging a gift, I retell a tale you gave us
growing up, about: cleaning up | after yourself | the work | 

it took | to turn | to change | the world | harmonizing |
repairing | relating | remaking | electrifying | sustaining | 

futures | full of this cozy goodness of freedom and wind and sun
full of giving and a part of/for everyone, learning from Mothers

you organized | wrote letters | signed petitions | demanding better |
for others | aligning | how all live | with nature | testifying |

embedding | acting on climate | in everything | by caring |
terestrializing | worlds | full | of giving and living every day

awakening everyday holidays in how we now celebrate 
Earth Day every day as we do Mothers' Day every day.

This is just the gift you gave. The animated lesson of Legacy:
