Sustaining Holiday
I want a sustaining holiday Not a supply chaining holiday Why don’t we take today and dedicate it To the future world in how we celebrate it Because I'm guilted by it all Driven grinch by an incessant jangling festival Gone mad guzzling consumer holiday mania Instead, I want a reason for celebratory miscellania I want a special reason for getting together I want a special season with magical weather I want a year, a month, a week, no– an everyday To give, to care, to do things an especially different way I want a sustaining holiday A nurturing celebration I want to dedicate a day To giving gifts to all creation In the same way Big Tequila has International Margarita Day I want Big Sun to have a real renewable energy holiday With maypole transmission line tethers, danced around Flower crowns on our heads, lines buried underground I want to get together to help give access To take time to actually fix problems, not just practice To pause, reflect, reassess, make space for remembrance in light I want trees to decorate us with lights To celebrate a sustaining holiday Lit with a renewable spirit bright With nature’s dedication In communal celebration Connected with folks who’ve been neglected before Interconnecting with each other, what renewables are for A new dawn on a new day dedicated A new holiday to sustain as celebrated A day for sharing dreams, building clean, clearing solar queues A day for creating our own good amid all the bad news A day for waking up energized and empowered with zeal Today is the day! To make sustainability real Happy sustaining holiday It’s a nurturing sensation Happy day to dedicate To the gift of all creation

I want to get together to help give access
To take time to actually fix problems, not just practice
To pause, reflect, reassess, make space for remembrance in light
I want trees to decorate us with lights
To celebrate a sustaining holiday
Lit with a renewable spirit bright
With nature’s dedication
In communal celebration
