The Best Piece Of Advice I Was Given About My Career
When I was 20, my grandpa gave me an unforgettable piece of advice.
I was just starting to get interested in what I could do about climate change, and had been running myself ragged trying to count and budget my personal carbon emissions. But, like most, I was making the mistake of only chasing easy individual actions rather than prioritizing work to change the system.
Until one day, my grandpa said to me:
"I've been petitioning our community for renewable forms of energy such as a wind turbine, which I've studied, would reduce our energy costs by almost half, or $750,000. Why don't you look into renewable power?"
That day, my whole life changed.
I saw a whole world of work to clean up, grids to transform, people who need better power, and a thing for me to do. So I started looking for work in renewable energy.
