Amid other vectors, I got through this past December (2020) by writing a album’s worth of Seasonal Winter Holiday Songs. “Warmth of the Season,” (obviously) the climate change themed ode, was inspired from experiencing warming warmer-than-average winter seasons over the years living in the mid-atlantic US. Surviving both snowstorms from extreme cold and the effects of extreme moderate winters racking record temperatures left and right, all because of our climate emergency: the all-too-cozy planetary relationship humans have abused by blanketing atmosphere with an imbalance of toxic warming pollution.
The “other vectors” supporting my psyche through this past winter of discontent have been the folks in my life; those whom and those who I keep in my heart. The flickering candle I carry with me pretending it’s some huge beacon to light my way through any season to infinite spring.
I hope you find the vectors in your life that connect you forward, to others together, tethers to reflect our wider world, animals, plants, all creatures, those oppressed, those passed; may the lines of our lives align alight.
With all my warming heart,
Adam Powers
